RGB

The abbreaviation RGB is used for the colour space consisting of the three primary colours red, green and blue. For example, computer monitors work with RGB.

In the RGB colour space three bytes are allocated to each pixel, containing the respective colour information. Every byte can comprise figures between 0 and 255. The higher the figure, the more intense the colour.
The monitor presentation is based on a black screen and electron beams light red, green or blue dots on it. In case you want to print a coloured picture, the computer internal RGB colour system needs to be converted into the CMYK-system used in printing industries.
