ICC profile

An ICC profile is a standardised set of data that characterizes the colour space of a colour input or output device, such as monitors, printers, scanners or digital cameras.

In color management, the aim of ICC profiles is a faithful reproduction of the original colours on different devices, e.g. when you display pictures taken by a digital camera on a monitor or print them.

In general, there are two types of ICC profiles. The matrix profile that is mainly used for monitors and the LUT profile intended for output devices.
