Clipping of Motives

Clipping means to isolate an object from its background in order to remove the background or to transfer the object into another picture.

For this purpose, the contours of the wanted object are carefully traced. A so called clipping path is created, which is the starting point for further editing. Here, one distinguishes between partial and total clipping. In the latter case, the background is completely removed and replaced by a white or transparent one or the clipped object is transferred into another picture. Whereas partial clipping means that the background of a picture is softened or blurred in order to turn the spotlight on the clipped object.
