Colour Correction

When photos are taken in artificial light, for instance in a photo studio, an irritating colour cast can occur. Errors like these can can be corrected with the help of digital image editing that Bilschliff offers.

Taking pictures with a digital camera or scanning footage can also lead to colour deviaton. Colour corrections of an image can be carried out either globally or selectively on specific colour channels.

A common but usually unsatisfying colour correction is the adjustment of tonal values. Here, only brightness and saturation are altered. Professional image editing software has a lot more to offer. While laymen follow their visual impressions, experts also have a look into the 'inner values' of a picture, for instance by checking the histogram function for tonal values and their distribution. After analysing the picture and possible colour errors, tools such as dodge, burn, sponge or brush can be used for darkening or brightening and precise colour corrections.
